4 Casual Thanksgiving Outfits
I am so excited for Thanksgiving next week. Are you, too? It’s the kickoff of the holiday season, and we will be able to celebrate with family, eat some good comfort food, and pick out and decorate our Christmas tree. The whole weekend is one of my favorite times of the year.
Taking time away from work & school and finding extra ways to relax and play are so important for our family after this challenging year. Also, because I know it is part of the weekend, I just want to say that Black Friday really isn’t a big part of relaxing or playing for me/us. That’s probably not the right thing to say as a blogger, but it is true. I am going to try to stay away from the hectic push for sales and for that reason, I’m not going to do the traditional Black Friday guide that I have published in the past. You all have my gift guides to reference (thank you!), and I am sure many of the items will be on sale or with free shipping. So it’s a great time to shop strategically, but I don’t want to add my voice to the idea that you have to buy more and more to be satisfied or happy (this feels so on point!).
In today’s post, I created 4 easy outfits from my closet to wear this Thanksgiving. Our celebration is casual and the weather can fluctuate a lot in November (snow, rain, sun, mild, cold….). Usually a sweater with jeans is a pretty safe bet though. I hope these outfits give you some good ideas for pulling together your own outfit next week or for packing if you are traveling away from home.

A cotton cocoon cardigan from Jenni Kayne is a perfect starting point for a Thanksgiving outfit. I love the loose fit and yet it still manages to be feminine and very comfortable. I went a size down to an x-small. Light wash straight leg jeans and comfortable sneakers are an easy combination to wear all day long.

Outfit details: Sweater | Denim | Loafers (and similar)
This statement sweater from Loeffler Randall is a new purchase this fall and I love the pretty sleeves. Since you are often sitting around a table, it’s a great idea to choose a top that you love when putting together a holiday outfit. Here, I paired it with simple black skinny jeans and these gorgeous leather loafers.
Outfit details: Sweater | Pants | Sneakers
If comfort and a stretchy waistband are of top importance to you, look no further than the No-BS pant from American Giant. I wrote a full review of these last month, but for quick reference, these fit true to size, aren’t see through or shiny, and feel incredibly comfortable with a high rise waistband. I added an oversized cream cashmere turtleneck sweater, which has a drop hem to cover your bum. Nothing could be more perfect for a Thanksgiving feast.
Outfit details: Fleece (and similar) | Tee | Denim | Sneakers
Lastly, I love this combination of some of my wardrobe favorites for the holiday. A Patagonia fleece feels very appropriate for a fall celebration and a pair of skinny jeans and basic white sneakers are versatile wardrobe basics you could mix and match with other pieces if you are packing a carry-on for the weekend. This look would be perfect if you are counting on an afternoon walk before savoring a big piece of pie.
