7 Non-Fiction Books for Morning Inspiration

In the morning, I like to curl up in my favorite chair with some coffee and read a chapter of a non-fiction book. The chapter usually gives me something to reflect on throughout the day. Over time, I can look back and notice little shifts that have happened in my life as a result of the books I’ve chosen to read. This hasn’t always been the case. Novels have had my heart from childhood, and I didn’t spend much time on non-fiction. But as I entered my thirties (and I realized how little I knew about so many things) I made more time to read books written by wise, thoughtful…

Books to Cozy Up with this Winter

A good book is a definite treat in the middle of the long winter months. One of my favorite ways to combat the winter blues is to have a ready stack of books to be read in my favorite spot with a blanket, lit candle, and hot drink. There’s nothing quite like the feeling of knowing that when a book ends, the story will continue and you can just pick up the next volume and keep reading. These series are especially for kids who are past the early reader stage, although you could read them aloud to a younger reader as well. Wrap one up as a birthday gift this year, since they are great for reading over and over. The Green Ember — rabbit siblings face…

    25 Favorite Christmas Books

Alongside the Christmas decorations, come a small stack of books that have been stowed away for 11 long months.  Reading special holiday stories is a tradition in our family, and so each year I make a list of Christmas books to place on hold at my library.  Each year I refine our list and add new favorites we’ve discovered. Here is our Christmas book list for 2018.  There’s a mix of serious and magical, some are classics and others are newly released.  I think these make excellent gifts, and it’s also wonderful to be able to check them out from your library and not need to store them in your…
